Vote of Thanks: 35th International Coastal Cleanup Day 2021
Commemorated under the theme “Save Our oceans and Beach”
Dear Volunteers, Sponsors, Coordinators and Friends
We are pleased to announce that another International Coastal Cleanup has been successfully completed, with the help of our generous and hardworking contributors. On Saturday the 18th of September 2021 many volunteers came together from all walks of life to help combat the pollution in our marine environment at the Etisa Beach along the Limbe-Idenau Coastline in the Southwest Region of Cameroon.
The waste and ocean pollution in this area has been determined as the root cause for public health issues, foodborne diseases, and contaminated drinking water. This is why we at ASCOA must express our gratitude for those who have come together to fight against these hazards to better the entire community.
Despite the difficult circumstances of Covid-19 ASCOA followed COVID-19 guideline measures ensuring that all volunteers were safe and followed protocol. All volunteers were equipped with their PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) mask, sanitary gloves and sanitizer to make sure they were safe.
Volunteers gave their time and energy to express just how much they care about fighting against marine debris. Seeing our volunteers from the community show up in their numbers to express their support gave us hope that even though we are a long way from eliminating the marine debris crisis, we are inspiring others to be responsible and care for their own environment.
On behalf of ASCOA we must express our gratitude and appreciation to all those coordinators, organizers, sponsors and those who made this event possible. We are eternally grateful for your support in making a difference in the fight for ocean conservation. Special thanks goes to our main sponsor OCEAN CONSERVANCY.
The project has shown that despite the small number, if the desire to make a change and help conserve our planet is there, then we can make a difference if we work together and help each other.
Sincerely
ASCOA
