Grant Researcher and Writer

Rachel has a passion advocating for safe and quality healthcare across the globe. She holds a degree in

Behavioral science and post graduate higher diploma in Psychology. Becoming a Health Psychology

Researcher in Ireland, Rachel spent three years working for a non-profit organization promoting safe

practices among healthcare providers and advocating for patient empowerment and involvement. She

conducted a nation-wide study on compassion in healthcare and lead master classes in acute hospital

settings. After then becoming a Healthcare Standards Development Research Officer, Rachel was the

leading researcher for 2 sets of National Standards working for the Irish Department of Health. Rachel

developed a set of national standards for the Prevention and Control of Healthcare Associated Infections

which promoted a safe and effective infection prevention environment and a culture of patient safety

within the Irish acute healthcare services. Rachel believes in a person-centered approach in healthcare

which should involve trust and collaboration between the community and healthcare system. Rachel is

supporting ASCOA in grant proposal preparation and research for community awareness of the COVID-19 virus through health promotion and infection prevention and control practices.
