ASCOA to Join the United Nations Economic & Social Program

Sharing is caring!

The whole ASCOA team has big news for our supporters and donors today! We are proud to announce that we will be getting consultative status in the United Nations’ economic and social council (ECOSOC). While the name may be a mouthful, it represents a fantastic opportunity for us to develop and grow. In turn, this means we will be able to do more and more for the most vulnerable in our communities.

So, what is ECOSOC?

The United Nations, as you may know, has different branches managing facets of the organisation, of which ECOSOC handles the economic and social fields. A conference is organized every year to discuss international issues of that nature and to make recommendations to its member-states. 54 countries distributed over several regions are its member-states. However, this council can also grant a special consultative status to NGOs, which enables them to participate into these discussions about social and economic development.

Getting this consultative status means that ASCOA will have a voice in international debates about socioeconomic measures, ASCOA will also have UN ground pass, meaning members of ASCOA can attend any event organizer by United Nation. This opens possibilities for us to continue our good work on a larger scale and we cannot wait to start joining our voice to the council.

Thank you to our supporters and donors for giving us the drive to continue fighting for a better world!
