ASCOA Humanitarian project to support Internally Displaced persons in Cameroon
Cameroon, a country in West Africa, had always been considered by many as a peaceful country. The peace that has been on for some time is now endangered. The once peaceful country became plagued by a political crisis which started in November 2016. As we write, the crisis is still ongoing with so many people affected. Amongst the effects of the ongoing crisis in Cameroon, is the rampant loss of lives and properties as well as the burning down of houses, leaving many people homeless. Homelessness pushes inhabitants of the most affected areas to resort to seeking refuge in bushes and to use unorthodox means of survival. It is against this backdrop that the Association for Community Awareness (ASCOA) has taken the initiative to reach out to homeless citizens and the needy affected by the crisis.
This humanitarian support goes a long way towards alleviating the suffering of these Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). It gives them hope and a purpose to live and enjoy the freedom which they have been deprived of for the past three years. They have endured extreme weather conditions without shelter and basic necessities that support life. The health of these people cannot be guaranteed because access to quality health care is compromised, considering they lack basic necessities like toilets or drinking water, and lack access to hospitals as well as essential drugs.
Many a times, deliveries are conducted in the bushes unassisted, with terrible consequences like postpartum hemorrhage, virginal fistula and infant mortality. We seek support to reach out to these displaced persons. Your donation will help in putting a smile on their faces again.
