The Association for Community Awareness (ASCOA) is pleased to announce the launch of its World Ocean Day 2026 celebration scheduled to take place from June 8–13, 2026 under the theme “Our Ocean, Our Responsibility.”

The week-long initiative will bring together young people, community members, environmental advocates, and volunteers to promote ocean conservation and take action against marine pollution along Cameroon’s coastline.

Activities planned for the celebration include a digital awareness campaign, an educational webinar on ocean conservation, community sensitization activities, sports and cultural engagement, and a major beach cleanup exercise at Batoke Beach in Limbe on June 13, 2026.

As a leading organization in marine debris action in Cameroon, ASCOA continues to mobilize communities and volunteers to protect coastal ecosystems and promote sustainable environmental practices. Since 2018, the organization has mobilized over 6,332 volunteers through 37 beach cleanup initiatives and removed more than 2,554 tons of marine litter from beaches and waterways.

The 2026 World Ocean Day activities aim to strengthen public awareness, encourage youth participation in environmental action, and inspire collective responsibility for protecting oceans and marine biodiversity.

ASCOA invites volunteers, partners, institutions, and community members to join this important movement toward cleaner beaches and healthier oceans.

Together, our ocean is our responsibility.
