Women Empowerment

Skills, health and opportunities for women

Women’s empowerment is one of ASCOA’s core focus areas. We work to reduce poverty and expand opportunities through practical training, entrepreneurship support, leadership development and health initiatives.
Our programmes respond to the needs of women and girls in underserved communities, including women affected by displacement and mothers seeking greater economic self-reliance.

Capacity Building & Skill Development

ASCOA’s International Women’s Day initiative in 2023 equipped 25 women, including seven internally displaced women, with practical skills in making flour-based products. Training encouraged income generation, confidence, solidarity and self-reliance.

Women and Girls' Health & Well-being

We promote menstrual-health education, access to sanitary products and open discussion to challenge stigma. A workshop held on 28 May 2023 in Mile 16 Bolifamba, Buea, reached 68 teenage girls with information and practical support for menstrual hygiene.

Entrepreneurship Support for Mothers

In collaboration with Forest Economics Africa Ltd, ASCOA has engaged in entrepreneurship training for mothers. The initiative supports practical business knowledge, confidence and exploration of income-generating opportunities that can strengthen household well-being.
