Overview

The Association for Community Awareness (ASCOA) is looking for seasoned journalists with a solid background in environmental journalism to participate in a workshop organized as one of its activities for a project titled: “Addressing Marine Debris and Plastic Pollution through Advocacy and Education for Sustainable Oceans and Coastlines”. The one-day workshop will help journalists secure deep insights about marine debris and plastic pollution, its sources, its health impacts, and key solutions to combat it. This Workshop will take place on the 11th of November 2022 in Buea, South West Region of Cameroon.

The 20 available positions are all fully funded/sponsored (transport, accommodation, and stipend) and highly competitive. Therefore, all applicants are advised to carefully read the eligibility criteria before completing the application form. Be reminded that incomplete and late submissions will not be considered. Also, failure to confirm attendance (if selected) by the above-mentioned date will cause your position to be given to the next best candidate.

Why is the workshop important?

The Workshop will provide journalists with insights into the issues and topics of marine debris and plastic pollution. By attending the workshop, journalists will gain invaluable knowledge for promoting meaningful and effective change on marine debris and plastic pollution within Cameroon, most especially in coastline communities.

Workshops will take the form of impact, problem-solving, challenge, or goal setting, as well as an interactive discussion-based forum to share personal experiences and testimonies.
