ASCOA will join the rest of the world to commemorate this day by carrying out beach cleanup to save ocean from trash and plastic pollution.
Why is this beach Cleanup Important?
- To fight Water pollution in the form of plastic and toxic chemicals that can be harmful to humans by contaminating food and fresh water supplies.
- To save Animals that can easily mistake litter for food, putting marine wildlife at risk of poisoning.
- Participating in a waterway cleanup brings community and stakeholders together and raises environmental awareness.
- Maintaining clean, healthy beaches and waterways is vital for regions that depend on tourism and water usage.
- To contribute to the 30 million pounds’ goal set by TeamSeas.

About Idenau
Idenau is a town in Cameroon located in the South-West region and the Fako department. It is part of the commune of West Coast. Idenau is known for its fishing port, and it is found in Limbe Coastline.
Idenau fishing port
45 km from Limbe on a good road you get to Idenau, another fishing and trading port. A small river is entering the sea and serves as natural port. Behind the steel bridge (from German Colonial time for railway transport) you can visit a number of fish smoking places. From here the road continues to the Bomboko side of the mountain. You can continue with some time all around the mountain the “Mount Cameroon Ring road” towards Muyuka. However from Idenau the road becomes stony (average speed 20 km/h).

Why Idenau Beach
This is a beach that has never experienced beach cleanup activity from an NGO, and it is found at the extreme end of Limbe coastline. For a successful disposal of waste, ASCOA will have to rent a heavy Truck and Dumpster of 40 Cubic Yards, since the waste management company is not working in this community/beach.
